008 – The Legend Of Tennessee Moltisanti

The FBI’s stirring up tension

But on the news, Christopher gets no mention

Sick of Brendan’s fakery

He shoots a guy in a bakery

That should get him some media attention

007 – Down Neck

AJ has been acting the fool

So he’s been suspended from school

He might have ADD

But his parents say he

Must visit Gran every day; now that’s cruel!

006 – Pax Soprana

Junior’s relishing his new control

But Tony feels he has started to roll

Over all of his shit

All cos his mum’s a bit

Mad she’s stuck in that retirement hole

005 – College

Meadow wonders about Tony’s job

So she asks him if he’s in the mob

But his mind, it is racing

Because at the gas station

He sees a guy who turned rat; what a knob!

004 – Meadowlands

Tony’s trying to get mentally healthy

But he’s worried about Dr Melfi

So his bent cop mate

Follows her on a date

But all he finds is she’s clean and quite wealthy

003 – Denial, Anger, Acceptance

Meadow was looking to score some speed

So Christopher told her that he’d

Sort her out, although

Tony wasn’t to know

Or else Chrissie, he might end up deid

002 – 46 Long

Paulie steals a cafetière

Because he thinks it unfair

That Italians are broke

While out there, other folk

Are making big cash from their fare

001 – The Sopranos

A man goes to visit a shrink

Because he has started to think

Too much about ducks

‘Bout whom he gives several fucks

And he works in waste management (wink)

Project Sopranos

Hello, and welcome to another of my projects.

Hot on the heels of my exceedingly popular Project Bond circa six years ago, I thought it was high time for a new project. This one is about the 20-plus-year-old Home Box Office original series The Sopranos, which I recently had the pleasure of rewatching. This was in large part due to it being very good indeed.

Now, to be clear, I’m quite aware that this is far from an original point. Many people far cleverer than me have enjoyed the series, and I expect will do so again. Those people have written far cleverer, far more insightful, and far more informed pieces about the series than I could ever hope to. That’s why I’ve chosen to play to my strengths, such as they are.

Starting tomorrow, I will post a daily limerick based on an episode of the 20-plus-year-old Home Box Office original series The Sopranos. I will post them in chronological order, and the title of each will be the same as the title of the relevant episode, so as not to cause any confusion. However, I must warn you that I have not in every case managed to capture the full nuance of the episode in my five-line poem, so reading them will be no substitute for watching (or rewatching) the series. I hope you will enjoy them, but if not, there is no need to tell me so.

Finally, you probably surmised as much, but I nevertheless feel compelled to warn readers – these limericks will contain spoilers for the 20-plus-year-old Home Box Office original series The Sopranos.

Celtic’s Managerial Conundrum

It’s fair to say things have changed somewhat since I last picked up my digital pen. Neil Lennon’s second interim tenure as Celtic manager has been less successful than many fans hoped, though he succeeded in winning the league, increasing the lead from eight points to nine, and reaching the Scottish Cup final. Not bad going, but a few drab 0-0 draws, an abysmal derby showing (albeit the league title was done and dusted), and some less than overwhelming performances in narrow wins have left most fans looking elsewhere for the next permanent appointment. The main problem seems to be that nobody can agree on what kind of name we should be looking at. Read More
